GARBAGEGarbage is picked up on Tuesdays each week. All garbage must be in bags in the tote. All cart lids must be closed, all garbage bags keeping lid open will be left. Garbage must be out by 6:00 am. Carts may be put out the night before and removed from the street after pickup. Late set outs will not be picked up until the following week. Residents will be informed of changes in pickup dates due to holidays in the News & Views.Two sizes of garbage carts are available, a 65 gallon tote for $17.00 a month or a 95 gallon tote for $19.00 a month.Bulk items (items too large to fit in the garbage tote) will need a sticker purchased from City Hall in order to be picked up by Oveson Waste. A bulk item (the size of a recliner or smaller) requires a $6.00sticker and a bulk item ( larger than a recliner) will require a $15.00 sticker. Any extra garbage bags that will not fit in the tote also require a $2.00 sticker. Appliances require a $18.00 sticker. Appliances include refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers, washers, dryers, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, and water heaters. Refrigerators and freezers that are put out must have their doors removed and set beside the unit. Yard waste and brush disposalService is provided from April 1st through November 30th for grass, leaves, and garden debris only. Yard waste must be placed in a paper yard waste bag (these can be purchased at any discount, home improvement, grocery store) with a yard waste sticker purchased at City Hall for $1.00 each. Yard waste bags are picked up on Tuesdays with regular garbage.RECYCLINGRecycling is picked up on Tuesdays with garbage. Recycling must be out by 6:00 am. One recycle binis provided to each household. If this bin is damaged or lost, you may use any type of container for recycling as long as it is clearly marked. Recycling is voluntary in Durant and there is no fee. You can find a list of accepted recycle materials below.
